About

Our spanish evil eye athlete Lucia Sainz is a professional paddle tennis player. Lucia started playing tennis at a very young age. With only five years of age, she picked up her first racket. “At home we have all done a lot of sports, basketball, tennis, skiing and paddle tennis, so the passion for sport in general has been a natural thing since I was little.”
After finishing her studies in Business Administration and Advertising at Fresno State (California) she returned to her hometown and while she started working, she was encouraged to start playing paddle tennis. Since 2010 Lucia has been playing paddle tennis professionally.

According to Lucia, paddle tennis has several factors that make it special. “It is a very social sport where everyone, pro and amateurs alike have a really great time. Also, I think that the massive incorporation of women into paddle tennis has made it grow very quickly.”

For the future development of paddle tennis Lucia would like to see her sport as an Olympic discipline. She also thinks that entering the USA is very important step. It would be the certification that paddle tennis has reached the whole world.
Asked about her biggest dream Lucia explained us that she was already lucky to have fulfilled two big dreams: winning a World Cup with Spain and being number 1 in the world. “The dream that I lack but that I still see far away is to play in the Olympic games.”
