About

Swiss professional mountaineer Roger Schäli grew up in the mountainous region, Sörenberg, where the main sport focus is skiing in winter and climbing in summer.
His passion for mountain sports developed through his father, who was an active mountaineer in his heyday, and who passed on his love for the outdoors and nature to his son.

Although professional mountaineering requires a lot of discipline and training, the native Swiss feels it is a great privilege to exercise his passion and even be able to make a living off it.
"Climbing is a passion; it’s a way of life. And an extremely emotional confrontation with the mountain, life and, in the end, even with oneself," enthuses the Swiss.

In his opinion, what makes mountain sports so special is that you share the passion with real friends you can trust. "Also, climbing is so intense and you are forced to live in the moment." For the future development of the sport, Roger wishes more consideration is paid to nature and that people who reisde there are shown more respect by those who visit and enjoy the regions. Roger's biggest dream is to climb the Fitz Roy Traverse in Patagonia.
