Tyler McCandless is a professional trail and mountain runner from Colorado, USA, where he still lives and trains today. In addition to his athletic career, he is a husband, father of two, and works in the meteorology and energy sector. His athletic journey began at the age of 14 when he joined track and field in high school. He quickly discovered his passion for running, which has shaped his life—both personally and professionally.

Tyler has represented Team USA multiple times and has already competed in four Olympic Marathon Trials. His long-term dream is to make history by participating in more Olympic Marathon Trials than any other U.S. athlete, while continuing to serve as a lasting example of excellence in trail and mountain running.

His favorite training location is Buena Vista, Colorado, where he values the combination of challenging trails and breathtaking scenery. During his runs, he relies on optical RX lenses, which help him stay focused on technical trails and in major marathons, whether identifying his own fluid bottles at aid stations or maintaining clear vision on rugged terrain.
